FIRST promotes the concept of gracious professionalism as a core concept of of all competitions
Coined by National Advisor Dr. Woodie Flowers, gracious professionalism encourages hard work and respects individuals and the community. At the same time, however, it encourages healthy competition and mutual gain. Gracious Professionalism is a lifelong skill that benefits those who understand and use it for a lifetime.
2010 BREAKAWAY GAME Challange Overview
Breakaway is a game played on the FIELD (illustrated in the figure below). Two ALLIANCES, one red and one blue, composed of three FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams each, compete in each MATCH. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than your opponent by shooting BALLS into a GOAL, climbing on the ALLIANCE TOWER or PLATFORM, or by lifting an ALLIANCE ROBOT off the PLAYING SURFACE.
